This week I chose the work of Peter McLane below, entitled Venice.  McLane describes his style by saying it "cannot be related to another."  I would say this is a fair statement.  I know I've never seen anything like this and he definitely has a unique style that is both abstract but still pleasing to an eye that favors realism.  Interestingly, McLane says he starts with a white background and leaves the work to a stylus, no digital art or images.  Knowing that, I find his work even more impressive.  I love how he also incorporates his first love, music, into this particular piece by placing the violin (cello) into the reflection of the water.  The wavy lines and variety of bright colors creates a lot of movement, fitting for a piece representing Venice, which is obviously surround by the beauty and fluidity of water.
