For this week I chose artist, Maria Julia Bastias.  This piece of hers entitled, "Gold and Silver Cloud" has so much movement that it reminds me of a swirling tornado.  I love her use of metallic and the checkerboard pattern.  Bastias says she studied the basic of art with Argentinian masters but describes herself as mostly "a self-taught artist."  In her statement she describes her goal of creating "aesthetic images that can make your imagination fly."  She certainly captures this sentiment with this piece.  It is very creative while also being pleasing to the eye and not over the top abstract.  In looking through her gallery, I saw several pieces that demonstrated her love of imagination and capturing the imaginations of her viewers.
